A. Content:
Demonstrates a solid grasp of subject, standards and skills.
Prepares lessons that teach to GWA adopted standards, using approved materials Plans UbD units and lessons aligned with Common Core, AERO and/or NGSS. Embeds inquiry in teaching and learning
B. Instructional Practice:
Approaches teaching and learning from an asset based philosophy
Designs and implements effective, developmentally appropriate lesson plans, while setting high expectations and using best practices. Defines and communicates instructional goals to students for each lesson and unit.
Creates learning engagements based on inquiry and requiring high depth of knowledge.
Able to use a variety of scaffolding strategies for helping multilingual learners access grade level content.
Integrates technology to empower students to construct knowledge, innovatively design, critically think, effectively communicate and globally collaborate.
Respects, acknowledges, and informs instruction based upon the learning needs of students with diverse profiles including multilingual, learning and cultural differences.
C. Classroom Management:
Manages student behavior effectively, using positive behavior strategies (PBIS, Restorative Justice, etc) Creates effective routines and structures in the classroom.
Co-constructs norms and class rules with students.
Creates a community of engagement, positivity and respect.
D. Assessment:
Uses a variety of formative tools to assess progress.
Gives appropriate feedback to students.
Summative assessments aligned with standards.
Experienced in portfolio use, and criterion or standards based grading and assessment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
Certification from a government body
Preferred 3 or more years of teaching experience
